Fix Artist Ben's Paints - Scratch Project
This project has been created as part of the EP404 (first year) computing module at the University of Brighton.
This is a game aimed at Year 2 children to help them learn their colours in Spanish. The game is consistently voiced over, allowing children to access the game regardless of their reading level. All of the graphics are originals, drawn using vector graphics within the scratch programme. |
|
Before playing the main game, children can check their knowledge of Spanish colours by clicking on the easel on the main menu. This will take them to an interactive practice screen that they can click on to hear and see the names of colour words.
The main game involves matching the lids to the paint tubes. All of the tubes can be clicked on so that the colour word is read out to the children, enabling the children to use both their auditory and visual memory of the words. |
The children are able to have as many attempts as needed to complete the paint tube activity. Every time it is played, the position of the tubes changes, ensuring that the children are able to play the game more than once and still develop their modern foreign language skills without relying on memory.
After the main game, there is a bonus game that allows the children to draw their own picture with buttons that are labelled with the colour names, embedding their knowledge of Spanish colours and providing a fun and motivating activity for the children to work towards as they play the game again. |
